About Me
Hello! I'm Laura Garretson Fyhr, proprietor of FYHRWORKS Handcrafted Doll Division. As I recall the halcyon days of my youth on the tranquil north shore of Long Island, a retrospection of all the happy hours I spent creating little toys and other amusements for myself and others comes clearly to mind.
The creative process is enigmatic and compelling. Why do I make dolls? I suppose the answer is ultimately: because I am able to. Yet this will never serve to explain the seemingly endless hours put toward the task, or the total lack of conscious choice in doing so. I believe the course was laid, as if by mortar and trowel, in early childhood. Inspiration is a gift that should never be ignored!
